Many individuals, groups and organizations have expressed their interest in protecting the unique old-growth ecosystem on Rosebud Mountain.
Unfortunately it is exceedingly difficult to gain protected status for places like Rosebud under the current landuse planning framework. For some unexplainable reason, since Rosebud was not identified as a unique ecosystem during the regional land use planning process in the 1990’s, many of our foresters and land stewards believe it is somehow excluded from consideration today. At the same time we’ve given exclusively to the logging industry but not to conservation. While we’ve logged much of the original forest in this area, we have officially saved nothing. There have been no new parks or ecological reserves created in the past decade. I hope that with your support we can change this unfortunate trend.
We can begin by contacting the Hon. Shirley Bond, in whose riding Rosebud Mountain is located. You can also contact me at james.steidle@gmail.com to keep in touch and stay up to date on the work that I’m doing.
Thanks for your support!
